Clark Howard and Carmen Wong Ulrich have a deep fascination with FICO scores. Too bad they mean less and less to bankers these days. Banks look at your take home pay and your total credit limit. They assume that if you get the loan, you will max out all your credit cards the next day! So you should keep your income to total credit limit as high as possible. Since most of us can't increase our incomes substantially in the short run, the best way to do this is to cancel cards you no longer use!

I chronicled a few ways to save money on ink 2 years ago. But I have some better ideas now.
- Use ecofont. It uses 20% less ink than standard fonts (thanks to the holes) yet looks very professional.
- Use the print what you want bookmarklet. Web pages are notorious for graphics and Google ads, so why not cut them out. This is really an incredible piece of software and I use it all the time.
I’m amazed at how many businesses, schools, and
individuals are wasting money on “name brand” software. The geeks do it better
