Save on Heat - Insulate Your Windows

You can insulate windows using bubble wrap packing material by spraying a water mist on the window, and then applying bubble wrap. The bubble wrap will usually stay in place for the full season with one spray.

First, Japan used footsteps to power their train station. now this. I hope you are all starting to believe it when I say America is being destroyed by design.

Japan imports approximately 75 percent of all its animal feed, including more corn for that function than any other country. But high prices of fuel, corn and soy meal have pushed the costs of traditional feed so high that recycled feed can now be purchased for half the price. At the same time, government legislation has encouraged the development of a recycling industry and has started imposing recycling requirements on companies that throw out more than 100 metric tons of food per year.

Approximately 20 million metric tons of food go into Japan's waste stream each year, an amount five times as high as the total amount of food aid that went to the poor worldwide in 2007. The food industry is the single biggest source of this waste, in part due to health laws that require the disposal of unsold items from restaurants and convenience stores.

Almost a year ago, we brought you news of a seemingly crazy scheme to generate electricity from the footfalls of pedestrians and we're happy to update that with word that the scheme was such a success it's being expanded.

Piezoelectric elements in the floor around ticket gates convert the kinetic energy of footsteps to electricity, with improvements boosting the capacity by a factor of ten from the earlier trial.

JR East says it expects the power floor to generate 1,400kW per day, which will be more than enough to power the RFID-reading ticket gates as well as electronic billboards in the station.
